Toni Gayle was a back up feature in a couple of late forties comics from Novelty Press including GUNS AGAINST GANGSTERS and YOUNG KING COLE. Normally her art was by Janice Valleau, one of the few female comics artists of the period. GCD won't go so far as to credit this episode to her but the styles look the same to me. Oh, and for a book entitled GUNS AGAINST GANGSTERS, it's a bit odd that there are no guns in this story at all.
